Heidi says she can beat anybody’s prices on diamonds. Heidi does most of the sales and socializing, stocks the inventory, and manages the money. She also designs jewelry and enjoys critiquing.
But most of all, she just loves jewelry. When she is able to find just the right piece for a customer, she feels as good as if she had picked it out for herself.
George has been her jeweler for 24 years. She has always lived in the area and had always shopped at By George. She has always been very happy with the quality and craftsmanship that George offered her, and so when she had the opportunity to work for George she jumped. After two years she had the opportunity to assume an ownership role along with her daughter Freedom. The two offer quite a dynamic mother and daughter duo.
She likes to sit and talk and design pieces of jewelry with all of the folks that come into the store. “Designing a piece and seeing it made by Freedom and George is very fun and touching. To see peoples’ dreams come true right before my eyes makes me a very fortunate person,” she says. All jewelry has meaning and she enjoys seeing that symbolism enhance other peoples’ lives.
Heidi also looks forward to the summer people every year. The return of the summer people is just as exciting and meaningful as seeing people she has known her whole life. She enjoys people just popping into the store just to say hello or to get their pieces cleaned and checked. She creates a very comfortable environment, which in the sometines-intimidating jewelry industry can be an even rarer commodity than some of the precious stones and metal we sell. “We want you to feel right at home, like we do!” says Heidi. Adding to the atmosphere and rounding out the staff are Eddie the Toy Yorkshire Terrier and Freedom’s two year old daughter Alexandra, a third generation jewelry professional.
